Happy New Year, everyone.
So, early on in 2025, I received bad news. The kind of bad news that came with a “six to twelve month” timeframe, which means that I stopped doing anything besides trying to hold back the floodwaters for as long as possible. Eight months later, I lost that fight and subsequently spent the remainder of the year in a daze, seemingly shocked that this thing I knew full well was going to happen had, in fact, happened.
But now it is a new year, which means that I am now attempting to pick myself up, dust myself off, and try to do…whatever. Pick up where I left off or something.
If you follow me on either Facebook or Instagram, you may have already seen this post. But for everyone else, here’s the super ambitious and not at all unrealistic agenda that delulu little fool known as January MJ has assembled for this shiny new year:
Sharp-eyed viewers may notice that this list is essentially the same as last year’s list, which is only because it is essentially the same as last year’s list. And sure, there’s an excellent chance that come December (or even next January), this list will look exactly as it does here and now.
But, I suppose, there’s also a chance that this list may look different. (Well, except for that ‘healthier lifestyle’ goal. I like Dr Pepper too much.) We never know what the year will hold until we try.
So this is me trying.
In theory, I’ll be updating my progress (or lack thereof) on this blog once a month. I tend to post the first Wednesday of the month, and occasionally end up just ignoring this blog for months on end. So, I guess we’ll have to see how that goes, too.

So welcome to 2026, everyone. May this year somehow be less of a raging garbage fire than the last.
Be safe and well, all. 💕

Oh, MJ, I’m so sorry to hear you’re having such a rough time of things. Please know that I’m sending as many good vibes as I can from my corner of this coast.
This line from your post definitely hit home for me – “We never know what the year will hold until we try.” I hope we all keep trying.
I hope we do, too. <3
MJ, sorry! And sorry I don’t know what terrible thing happened.
We didn’t tell many people.
I hope this year treats you better.
I hope this year treats all of us better. It’s been a damn hard decade.
Yikes, I’m so sorry. When life hits you in the face like that, of course things like writing will go away. And that’s totally okay. Take care. I hope this year treats you better.
It’s a little surprising, but I really did feel okay with writing falling to the wayside last year. I guess I just didn’t have enough left in me to worry about it.
I’m sorry to hear that life has been throwing you curve balls. Here’s hoping 2026 sends fewer obstacles your way! @samanthabwriter from

Thank you!
Fingers crossed life gives you a break this year and you can actually get to some of those things you’re trying to achieve.
That would be nice. We’ll see what happens. 🙂
